rosee's birthday bash!

in our office, we have a fun way to celebrate each other's birthday. we each draw a name out of hat and you are then responsible for that person's birthday celebration!  the person who drew rosee's name has been out of the office for an extended period of time and wasn't going to be in the office for rosee's birthday. so...deb and i put our head's together and decided we were going to throw rosee's birthday bash!
as you can guess....i offered to be in charge of decorations! ;) i first chose the color scheme...something bright, bold and fun....i used stampin' up!'s melon mambo, tempting turquoise and concord crush. then i chose a stamp set...flower fest (from stampin' up!)...i chose this set because a lot of the flower stamps have a matching punch so it makes it super easy to cut them out!  they turned out great together.  here is the banner i created...

close ups of the banner...

deb said she would take on the cake duty and we were discussing what else to do...well...rosee loves fruit and i came up with this fun idea....FRUIT KABOBS!

you can see on the table there were more flowers that i just stamped and punched out...to make my own confetti to sprinkle over the table and i covered her desk too!  you can also see i scattered jewels, as well...love the bling!

these were so much fun to make!  i made the picks to put the fruit on...stamping the image, punching it out and then...of course...had to have a jewel on it!  ;)  the plan was to cover the white styrofoam, but once the skewers were in the styrofoam, they were so close together, there was no way i was going to be able to cover it up.  i had silver packing stuff...kind of like tinsel for a christmas tree...to cover it up.  oh well...it was a lot of fun to make!

next...the card...of course!

Envelope and card
i used versamark ink to emboss the flowers that i used on this card...and of course, added some bling!

the inside

we had a great day at the office celebrating rosee!  i love how everything turned out. happy birthday rosee!!! i haven't had many projects to do, so this was great!  until next time my faithful followers....:)

The Forever Flower bouquet

hello everyone!  sorry it was been another awhile before i have posted.  been busy with vacation and sending reedo off to california for his annual 2 week training for the marine corp!

a coworker's mother in law passed away a week or so ago and we always try and do something from the office. so my 2 social committee partners in crime asked me if i would create something for her.  i said "of course!" and here is what i came up with.....

My first thought was to make my own patterened paper!  so here is where i started....strips of blank white scrapbook paper

Then I stamped my pattern on the paper.  I was trying to use reds, oranges and yellows. my inspiration was the sun.

So then i accented with other patterned paper i had. i actually made these flowers a little smaller than the patterened paper ones...why you may ask...i have no idea.

So below is the final creation. deb, one of my social committee partners in crime, named this the "Forever Flower Bouquet" because it will last forever and  there is no need to water them!! that is my kind of flower! and our hopes of bringing a smile to our coworkers face in such a difficult time.

you will notice that it is the same flower that i used in alissa and dave's lei's. this time i just added a stem and some greens to give it a realistic feel! add a vase and some clear pebbles....you get the "forever flower bouquet!"
